Workshop #1. Technique: Timekeeping Analysis - Keeping time is job number one for every drummer, but too often we don't focus enough on the finer points of this very important subject. This workshop will offer a unique look at timekeeping, focusing on a variety of topics that include: working with a click track, understanding the balance of the hands and feet in different musical settings, and getting in and out of fills smoothly. The end goal: to help you develop any feel from "the inside out," so your time is rock solid. (10:00 am - 12:00 noon)

Workshop #2. Drum Set Evolution - This workshop will take you inside the incredible story of the drum set, as told by a man who is widely recognized as one of today's foremost authorities on classic American drumming. Daniel will explain the origins of the drum set, show where its many components come from, and demonstrate how we evolved stylistically as players. By knowing more about the origins of the drum set, you will be better equipped to understand the popular music you play and listen to today. (1:00 pm - 3:00 pm)

Workshop #3. Understanding Shuffles - The shuffle is an incredibly diverse groove, and lies at the core of nearly every style of music we play today: Rock, Blues, Funk, Hip-Hop, Country, Ska/Reggae and Gospel. Increasing your knowledge about shuffles will not only make you a stronger drummer - whatever style you play - it will also make you more employable. Daniel is the "shuffle guru," having written the award-winning "bible" of shuffles, The Commandments of Early Rhythm and Blues Drumming (with Zoro). He also performed a clinic on shuffles at the 2010 Modern Drummer Festival. (4:00 pm - 6:00 pm)

All of Daniel's workshops tackle the subject matter from three perspectives: Technical, Practical, and Historical. Each workshop is designed not only to make you a better musician, but to also give you a broader understanding of your role as a drummer, and offer some very practical information to help you reach your goals, whether you're a beginner or a pro.
